Buckeye Birthday Wishes from our cousin

Natalie came home today after lunch and picked up the mail and found this in the mailbox.

Happy Birthday

She called me on the phone and brought Jonathan back over to the office and handed me the envelope which had a birthday card to Jonathan and me from our cousin Jim Tressel… very cool!

Snow Day Adventure

Jonathan's first experience in the snow!Since today was a snow day, I thought I would break the silence here on the blog.  Well not exactly a snow day with no work or school… but Jonathan’s first day to play in the snow.

Over the past few weeks Natalie has insisted to find a great buy and purchase snow pants for Jonathan incase of a big snow… Well she found the deal, and I hope Jonathan likes the pants because they are big enough for about 3 winters!

We found the deal just in time for an ‘amazing’ snow fall of 1.5 inches which warranted a snow day.  So Today after we finished lunch we all go our warm gear on (some more gear than others) and headed out to the snow.

Of course when you are out in your first snow adventure, you have to learn you can eat snow as long as it’s not yellow snow (or brown, thanks Toby).

Since the snow was really wet we decided to make a Snow Man… as soon as I started rolling the snow we could hear  “Ba, Ba Ba” (Jonathan’s word for Ball).  The bigger the snow ball, the faster and LOUDER we heard “Ba, Ba, Ba”.  Soon he was yelling “BA”.

After rolling snow, we had our finished project and it was time for Dad to head back to the office, I think Jonathan enjoyed our lunch time adventure.

Lincoln Presidential Museum

My family is in town this weekend so we thought it would be fun to make the trip to Springfield, IL to eat some from some of our favorite places to eat as well as check out the Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum (alplm.org) and visit with some friends.  Even though we had lived in Springfield for over four years my parents never had visited the museum so we thought this weekend’s trip should include a trip to Springfield.

I have to admit I am not a huge museum person but if you are ever near the LPLM it is a must visit stop on your trip.  The museum is extremely impressive!  There are two theaters that have two amazingly  well done shows with awesome affects and tons of other media to present the history of Lincoln. Its worth your time to check out!

Because of copyright and condition of some of the historical items they don’t permit photos inside the “journeys”, so since I can’t show you photos of most of the museum, you will have to just go and see it for yourself.

One of the best parts of our visit to the ALPLM was the fact that we had our own personal tour-guide, our friends Charlie and Cleo Lee (not related, but ‘adopted’ because of our names) volunteer at the museum, so Cleo went with us as our personal tour guide! Thanks Cleo for the personal tour and Free Tickets!  For a hook up with your own personal guides when you tour the ALPLM, drop me a note and we’ll introduce you to some of our favorite ALPLM volunteers.

Here are some of the picts from our trip.

Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum

The first journey is the “Pre-Presidential Years” starts with a replica of the cabin A. Lincoln grew up in and takes you thru  the days before the election.

Mom and Dad with “little Abe” before we started Journey One.

The second Journey starts with entering the front of a White House replica and takes you thru the post election time thru the Civil War to Lincoln’s death. Are they Statues or Actors?  Hmm…

You can also take a tour by cell phone and text message in Springfield of all the Lincoln sites… pretty cool.

After Dinner at Darcy’s Pint, on of the best places to have a Horseshoe, we met up with a bunch of our friends for ice-cream at Culvers.

“Grandma” Cleo saw this bunny that jumps and dances at the store and thought Jonathan “HAD” to have it.

Not sure if it was just a long day for the little guy or if “Auntie” Deb is just that boring.

Ok… and lastly i have to post the photos of the random wedding party waking down the street… we saw them walking downtown with the yellow dresses and yellow parasols and couldn’t pass up snapping a shot.

Cute Kid

So over the past few months there has been a debate in our office… If you have a kid, do you think he/she is cute no matter what?

This debate is primarily because I think my kid is really cute, as do my co-workers “Auntie” Linda and “Aunitie” Mel, and Jeremie (Jonathan hasn’t come up with a nickname for Jeremie yet) but primarily because of my cynical wonderings…

Anyways, I don’t have to worry because my kid is cute!

Here is Jonathan in his Easter Outfit… too bad he isn’t a happy baby!

The pictures say it all.

‘Tis the Season

A few more things this weekend that point to it being the Christmas Season.

I volunteered at our Christmas productions this weekend with our Creative Arts Tech teams.  It was fun to help out and see that team in their element…. and of course having me back on a headset in a tech booth is fun for all! (Right Dave!)

The men’s service team and the creative arts teams did an awesome job building the set again this year!  A two story Mall scene has taken over the stage.

Traveling to Ohio with my FAMILY was a smooth trip despite the 30-40 mile per hour winds….  Have i told you how much i love winter!  We found ice covered trees all the way to the Indiana border.

At times you couldn’t tell if the snow was drifting or falling from the sky.

Winter is here

Life with a 2 month old has been lots of fun, although it has reduced my time to blog… But some how my wife has found time,  so I’ll break the recent silence with some ‘fun’ photos from when I went out to our cars this morning.

Last night’s winter storm dumped a half inch of ice on the the cars that are back outside. (the property where we were storing our boat for the winter was sold two weeks ago… so if you know of a storage location in central Illinois… on the cheap leave a comment)

Its not like its been busy around here, but I have failed to post anything since last week about our little boy… Natalie went into the doctors office on Friday and they decided to induce and told us to go the Maternity and Family Center at the hospital right after we left the doctors office… And never did I know how long of an adventure delivery would be… After 30+ hours of labor and 1.5 hours of pushing the doctor decided to take Natalie in for a C-Section.  Wow that was one of the coolest things I have ever seen.  The nurse said to come up around the curtain and even let me snap a few photos as they were pulling the little guy out.  The best line of the night was Dr. Ma as he was pulling Jonathan out saying "Whoa! he would have never fit out"

Jonathan Michael was born at 1:03 am. Weighing 10lbs 1.5 oz and 21.5 inches long.

I quickly learned that little is a relative term, on the scale it showed 10 lbs and 1.5 oz!

Everyone is doing great and mom is finally resting today.  It has been so much fun introducing everyone to my SON!  Wow that is just something totally still so crazy to me.  As I sit here writing I am watching my wife and baby sleep it is still such an amazing miracle… God is good!

There are tons more photos posted on our flickr and on Natalie’s Blog.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers during the delivery… It was fun to keep everyone updated on twitter… although I have to admit there were some times where I was distracted and didn’t keep it up to date… And for the record… those of you that wanted to early morning twitter I tried, but Natalie said "Oh, all those people don’t want to be woken up at 3 in the morning by a tweet…"  She wouldn’t buy my explanation that this was the whole reason people signed up for twitter to begin with…I figure if I am awake don’t you want to be too???  So you can thank Natalie for not getting an interruption to your sleep.

A Blogging Wife

Its fun when your wife starts to blog… for several reasons… but the biggest reason is that it is just cool to read her take on our life.   Its fun to watch her start using Flickr Pro, Windows Live Writer and her wordpress.com blog….  Maybe I can outsource my blogging to her!

One of my favorite she posted this week is her OSU Jersey and the little animal shirt for the baby.

So with that I say welcome to Blogging World, leave her a comment and welcome her too….
